First Korean Feast.

My last day at work! To reward myself, for being diligent & helping to make the event@Hongkong a success, i treated myself to Han Guk Em SHik! And i want to congratulate myself. Ive grown to become more, independent. You dont see many females, lunching alone outside. Yes there are many colleagues to have your meal with. When times get busy, you have to really lunch alone. Most situations, the lady will pack lunch back and choke on their food at their desks. Especially if your office is like mine where there are colleagues you can count with 123, three fingers. 1 was in and out for appointments. Managers flew to Hongkong for event. Some went to see clients. The editors were out to do interview.

Chance upon this traditional korean restaurant at The Concourse Level 2 when i went for lunch with colleagues last time. Been wanting to try their food and i did it today! Now let me show you the pictures ive snapped.

오대양 - [Sounds like Ou De Yang. Haha.]
Korean Seafood Restaurant & Family KTV Lounge.

The seats i was sitted. On the extreme left of the picture to be exact. There were bbq pits on the tables at the couch ones.

My view from my seat. The entrance was the space at the pillar side. Forgot to take a picture from the entrance. In case you are pondering, yes i was the only customer at that time. Felt like ive booked the whole restaurant.

The 8 side dish/appetizers that were served as complimentary if you dine at the restaurant. Meaning FREE. 8 plates for each table.

A closer look at the 8 dishes..

Bean Sprouts
Taste:A little blant.
For me, i like all vegetables, so it doesnt matter.

Spinach
Taste: Slightly sour.
Taste like the ajar ajar.

The lotus ____ - I forgot the name. But i couldnt take it due to some religion reasons.
Taste = Unknown.

Sliced Cucumber with sesame seeds
Taste - Is it bitter?
Mollayo . . [i dont know]

Fried egg cake with a chopped veggie inside, just like fish cake.
Taste: No heavy tastes, taste like, egg.
Nice to bite.

Kim Chi!!
Taste: Alright, moderately blant.
Less salty compared to the packet i bought at NTUC & Various stores. For me, i like heavy tastes kimchi.

Boiled Seaweeds
Taste: Sour
Very nice. A very good appetizer!

Fried peanuts with ikan billis.
Taste: Sweet
Very crunchy! I like it.

MAIN DISH, which i ordered.

Kim Chi Jji Gae!
Most koreans ate this in the dramas.
Red colour soup w tofu, then go together with a bowl of fresh korean-style rice.

Kim Chi Stew with Tofu & lotsa veggies
Taste: Sour & Spicy
A little similar to the Tom Yum Soup brewed in the korean way.

A BOWL of white rice in the korean rice bowl.
It looked a little soggy yet it isnt really that wet. It appeared to have a thin silver film at the top. A bowl of very appetizing rice.

Spicy Soft Shell Crab.
A complimentary that comes along with Kim Chi Jji Gae!!
The crab meat is cold, i supposed it came from the fridge. And the meat tastes uncooked, i dunno. Not a bad cold dish. First time trying such food.

When i called for the bill. The waitress served me the desserts.
Cubed watermelon in syrup.
Taste: Sweet.
Im too full for this. Anyway, i thought its the cutest and homest-style dessert i ever had.

BEFORE TUCKING INTO THE FOOD

AFTER GETTING FULL TO THE BRIM.
And you can see: NOT MUCH DIFFERENCES.

All in all. Korean food is more bland than the local delicacies. Bad news for chillis-must-have lovers. They dont prepare you bottles or jars of chillis on the table. For vegetables lovers, you'll definitely love the korean food for they used vegetables very heavily.

The 8 appetizers of tastes were a pleasant surprise! I ordered only the Kim Chi Jji Gae and i got so much food! Well worth the money! The potion of the food is considerably huge. The boss of the restaurant was very polite. Bowed to me umpteen times. Im a little too shy to use my koreans, except thanking him - Kamsahamnida. I remembered there was a misunderstanding. He was bidding me goodbye - Annyeonghi kaseyo. There are two ladies passing by, i thought he is greeting the two ladies when i heard annyeong. So i didnt return any nice words. To know, its annyeonghi kaseyo. i walked a little far by then. Omo, when i took a peek at the boss and waitress. SO embarrassing. Hope i didnt come across as a rude young lady!
Whatever.

After my lunch. Mummy ringed me up and said "Ive brewed the ginseng chicken soup" Coming home for dinner? WOW. Finishing off my dinner with another korean delicacies!
HAPPINESS>>>>>

I want spaghetti tmr. OR CURRY.

Tips: At a korean restaurant. Unlike the chinese traditional common ways, try not to hold both the chopsticks & spoon at the same time. Its considered rude. One at a time.
