I seldom make myself busy on weekend as i always leave the time to my family. Yesterday was exception. It was movie with Pauline and Grace in the early morning. Early morning? Right, I was 1129130218494 reluctant to miss law lecture. But I really overslept that if i reached school, i'd rather i not go. Then i decided for a little day out before the ensemble in the evening. Moreover, Geraldine wanted to meet us up for some little girl's talk. girl's buy. girl's lunch. I felt so blessed today because it has been 2 months since i watched a movie. And thats The Golden Compass.

As much as I love the Alethiometer, the movie is quite a letdown. 2hour movie isnt short yet it wasnt enough to pack what it should own for the first of the trilogy. It seemed like an attempt to create a new franchise in the form of some previous fantasy movie productions which i shall not named. Some important scenes were supposed to tell yet it couldnt connect with the audiences sufficiently. Most reviews revealed that the readers are disappointed too. Personally I haven had the chance to read the book. The urge has been snowballing in me since yesterday. Time is factor though.. The original title was called "Northern lights". Does it seem to ring a bell? It was quite a big name in the book store some time before, i remembered. I wasnt going to give it a good rating as i was just bogged down by the constraints of movie when the credits rolled. "It could have done much more better".

Infact, dont let the afore-mentioned frightened you. Many charming elements, this movie certainly worth your ticket for this christmas! Watch it!!! I dont wish to stop my review here but i have to. Golden Compass SURE leave you more rooms for endless discussion starters. And that will obstruct me from going to talk about the Lavender Night Concert which i attended in the evening.

Lavender Night: An evening of music with the Purple Phoenix Ladies' Ensemble

[Not supposed to take photo inside.]

I was pretty thrilled about it. You might be surprised to know, i always do frequent sistic for a look out for such events. Be it the orchestra, piano recitals or the bands performance. I love the times when i could lose myself to the music. That feeling is priceless..

Chinese flute is my favourite out of the chinese music instruments. After the ensemble, i noticed im also loving er hu and the zither. Gaining me more insight into the chinese instrument which i know too little too! Yesterday they displayed special skills like playing with some weird instruments i never even know of. They made beautiful music, even with A BIG SAW. Can you imagine? Some others more which i couldnt name. The ladies were marvellous! The flaw i could pick a fuss over with would be the pre-recorded accompanying chords, beats and instrumental that was played in the background from the CD. There were strong anticipation for solely live performance on the stage instead of the background music aids which affected my music appreciation. A little disappointment was there then and it got a little boring in the 2nd hour. All in all, they played quite a number of songs. Chinese Classics such as "Ba Wang Pie Ju", "Sai Ma", also "Entertainer", "Carmen", and songs from Jay Chou's "Ju Hua Tai &" Dong Feng Po". For others, i cant remember the names...

Before i forget, Mei Xin, the new local popstar singer, was the guest for the night. Response about her appearance was a little awkward. Her singing is alright too which paled her performance in comparison with the 13 phoenix ladies. Really a wrong timing.

天,时,地,理,人,和。少一个都不行!
